it was not uncommon for librarians to lay down their lives for the benefit of the Clayr as a whole

Gravity was something you could beat; all it took was hydrogen, hot air, or even a bit of rope. But being a girl was a miserable, never-ending struggle.

This book is dense, full of information and feeling and emotions. The story spirals so that you read and reread aspects of the story over and over again, but each time more is added to the story so that your understanding grows and deepens.

Fascinating to be reading The Memory Code and Snogspirals at the same time. I dip in and out of each one - they enhance and inform each other in powerful ways.

I actually started reading this before Reading Matters 2017, but never finished it, because work and life and work. And it’s been sitting on my bedside shelf accusingly since then, shaming me. So last weekend I picked it up, and opened it at the page with the bookmark, and started reading.

Jaysus! 😳 Mind. Blown.
