Where is the plot? 5 chapters in and still no plot? Inciting incident should have happened by now. The character is paper thin and the writing is stilted. I don't need to be hit over the head five times with the same thing. By all means show, but don't then tell me in 2 different ways what has just been shown. This book really needs more editing

I don't like the witholding of information achronologically. It didn't work in the last book - I didn't really care about Collie's betrayal by the time we got to it - and it is contrived here. I don't think it works as a device, because the suspense is articficial. What happened has already happened i.e. it won't affect the real time plot, so it's just unnecessary and tedious sort of suspense.

The writing is amateur so far and the story lacks engaging conflict. However, I think if it was rewritten with more showing and less telling and the writer cut a lot of fluffy scenes that don't help the plot, it could be a lot better.

It's actually going really well so far. I hope it keeps this up

I don't know why the girls aren't described as muscly as well as the boys (apparently girls = tall and thin, boys = muscle, doesn't really make sense) and on a page where the character complains about gender bias. I mean really...

Hmm, the writer doesn't seem to know when to use the past perfect and when to use the simple past. It's a common error.
I also don't think omniscient is a good POV for a mystery story. It takes all the mystery away unecessarily

I just don't know why I persist with these books when I'm not enjoying them at all. Some of the free books are okay, but with this one, I just don't want to keep reading. I have to force myself. The book appears unedited. Any good editor would have picked up on the multitude of problems in scene structure and technical writing

Hmm... For a book that must be the 10th-20th book this author has written, the writing style seems very amateur

I don't know how much more of this I can take and I'm only on page 25. The narrative just speeds through everything, the thoughts are incoherent at times and the characters don't fell real. I usually don't give up on books though. I think maybe I should set myself a goal. If I get to 50% and the writing does not improve, then I'm done with it.

This is a paranormal romance definitely. It is set in a post apocalyptic world, but it is a romance.

Getting a bit slow now. The protagonist isn't doing much, but hopefully that will change soon

For some reason, Mare has really been grating on my nerves at the beginning of this book

These always start off well, but we'll see if it is sustained.

Still slow. I don't really feel like I'm getting into the story at all. Might be because I suspect a reactive protagonist.

Still slow, but I'm getting through it at a reasonable pace. I'm hoping for a good climax and then I want to finish this whole series by the end of the year.

I'm enjoying this so far. Admittedly, the main character doesn't have much motivation, but I like the style.

Not sure about this one so far. It's been quite slow to start and I find it difficult to believe Sasha would just help Crystal, for whatever reason. I like Crystal's POV. At the moment, this seems more like her story than anyone else's. Krissa is a bit lackluster and if I'm honest, I think the first chapter was probably unnecessary.

Heading towards the climax, but I'm not really sure what to expect from it. I'm hoping for a good battle

I am getting tired of Kara always saying the legion doesn't accept her. I just don't buy it.

I really don't get the netherworld. It was overly convenient in book 2 and this time around, it just seems pointless. Unless there is some kind of reason to it, I don't see how Kara intended to get anywhere. Seems pretty foolish to have not tried to figure it out before going. Hoping that she would just end up in the right place seems like a pretty foolish mindset.

Why is it never made clear why the mortal works just goes on as business as usual. Surely in the last book thousands of people died, maybe millions. Whole towns. Why does nothing seem to have changed? I was waiting for some explanation, but it hasn't been given yet so I'm just generally confused about it and it's bugging me.

It's been very slow to get going so far

Started out well, although there is somewhat a lack of clear conflict at the moment, except for general high school drama. Still enjoying it though.

I am enjoying the book so far. So long as it doesn't go crazy in the last part of the story, it's on track for 3* or more.

Good start. Gripped me and has kept my attention so far. We'll see how it pans out from here.

I feel like the plot is losing momentum now, which is strange.
