Ali Hazlewood reads like candy to me.

So gritty and complex

Already so intrigued. This story is steeped in complex topics and a full feeling history. The setting that mixes a more modern feel with a classical samurai fantasy is new and interesting and the mixed pov of a mother and her child is so compelling to me.

I don’t know why precisely, but I’m finding myself annoyed while reading and choosing other books to read or other things entirely to do. It may be a character problem, I don’t jive well with the fmc 🤷🏼‍♀️

So far, this is just an overly clichéd and badly paced retelling of the Blue Sword…….
And I’m not really into it. There are several choices the author made that I don’t agree with. Memory loss trope bugs me unless it is made necessary to the plot.
Silver linings— I think I like Norah’s character.
There are some witty writing moments I chuckle at.
I’m still undecided on if I finish it or not…

Okay I’m so all over the place with this one… some awesome elements and storytelling going on, and then some really annoying bits and pieces too. I need to know how hit ends! Could swing either way for me right now…

This book is hitting SO many pet peeves right now and I’m struggling to look past them…
Is it even worth it?

I have found this one really hard to get into. It has such a heavy emotional start up for all the characters and I have learned from reading it that I really dislike self-loathing characters. I love the characters who are self-assured in themselves even if circumstance leaves them grieving… I understand it is in an effort to give good character development but it feels whiny and annoying

I’m reminded why I wasn’t super eager to jump into this book now. It is very frustrating. I understand what the author was trying to do and yet am generally unhappy with it as far as leisure reading goes….. to hopeless.

I’m having a hard time getting invested in this book…
Friends who have read this, help a girl out- how much worth it is this

I am intrigued and like the Italian flavor however this book does fall into some of my pet peeves… we will see how it shapes out.

I don’t like this whole “possessed by evil” thing
I don’t think I’ll read the rest of the series. I will only finish this one because I’m so darn close to done already….

This book is….
The pacing is weird and the world building and magic system are not very present. It is mostly character and relationship driven which is something I often like however it feels a little lacking in this read right now…. I’ll finish it and see how I feel then.

So far I am really liking it! The magic is unique, the setting immersive, and pacing is exciting.

Amount of Cosmere worlds already referenced? At least 3 but I think there were more… I need to brush up on my Cosmere before committing to this one haha
