I'm still trying. Another issue I'm having is that thoughts characters have aren't in quotes, so they're tough to follow.

Example: Frances always tells me that for someone who is so good at solving crimes I can't make it to the grocery store without getting lost, he thought. She’s right he thought. [P.60]

The rest of it is third person pov for this character so the sudden switch without the quotations is jarring.

I'm struggling with this one. Only 26 pages in, and we keep switching from the past to the present to the future (but present) and from multiple POVs. For example, we suddenly shift from our main character to another woman, and that woman has a guest. Suddenly, out of nowhere, it's his POV. And multiple scenes will be both present and past tense.This is my second time reading these 29 pages because I was so confused.

I never miss a video, so I've been excited since he announced the book was being written. Got it for Christmas. So far it's definitely Chris's style of writing. It's the voice he uses for narrating his videos but in written form. When translated to a book format it's not working as well as I'd like but im not giving up. Might be that I'm only on page five and it's 4:21 a.m., though. We will see tomorrow! :)

I like this one. Fast read. Probably a 4 star. Author for some reason has used the term
"Woolgathering" at least 5 times this book? I like that Azalea no longer has a borderline racist stereotypical southern black thing going on. Stewart is also less stereotypical for a for man but oddly all his personality is gone. This one is good, not amazing but good.

Happy Halloween! I couldn't find my edition on here. It's a late 20s edition so I'm choosing this one. I'm so ready!

It's interesting but I'm not jiving with the writing style. It might end up a 3 star.

I forgot how much the books focus on Bess and her weight. "George tutted disapprovingly as her blond cousin reached for a second helping of apple crisp. Bess, who ignored her, tended to be slightly plump"

Ugh. Honestly so far this is a pass. The first story is boring as heck, the ending was obvious and the book is super outdated. Bess says she's starving and asks to eat and "Nancy giggled. "Okay, but only 300 calories!" Either way you can take that is just ew. Times have really changed since 1983, I guess. Even kids would have a hard time suspending their disbelief.

My mom never let me read this one as a kid, wo when I found a beat up old copy at the library bookstore, I had to. Too spooky for me? Nah. :)

So I figured out the twist on page 59, and I'm really enjoying where this is going. It's way better than red white and royal blue (not sorry). And now the main character has found it out too. Finally found out she has curly hair, and I'm just gonna assume red because my friend said she reminds her of me.

I've hit a scene that made me criiiiiinge. I'm still reading though.

So far I actually like it. 31 pages in and the main character's appearance hasn't been mentioned though.

Oh. Oh. I should have expected this after Red White and Royal blue. Judy Garland statue made out of bike parts and peeps?? This is how the second page barrels you over the head with the idea that the characters are queer. Please let it be less heavy handed for the next 416 pages. I'm so glad my friend can't see my reaction.

Mega over share: My online friend suggested I get this and I got through the step of buying it more than a month ago but now I need to actually read it and I'm a little nervous because she says it's her favorite and also reminds her of me somehow, maybe for romantic reasons? And that's a whole messy ball of wax but I'm reading it so I can stop feeling tense about it. The end. Maybe I can do it in one go?

It's not drawing me in like I remember it did the first time I read it

It's 7:43 AM. I haven't slept and I can't stop reading this thing, but I'm annoyed at it. Henry is boring, but I like him more than Alex. Alex is...something, I don't know what but he runs me slightly the wrong way. Give me more Henry. Still want less politics and more actual relationshipping not just sexing. At least I get some of the references that creep into my YR fanfiction. 😭

Okay. Every time I'm vibing with it the politics come in and turn me off, and like, these characters hold the same beliefs as I do at least on the surface. I get the distinct vibe that this book was manufactured and written to make a movie. Totally a 3 star affair.

They just had full on sex and there was no preparation. The only things they did with their fingers were hold hands. *sigh.*
