Wild!

Why am I fascinated by this thing? Is it the casual inclusion of lycanthropy? Witchcraft? Demonology? Alongside philosophy and science...

It's going to be a long journey but a worthwhile one. I'm having to remind myself how to read these bombastic texts.

And off we go...

I'm embarrassed I'm reading this book--it tries to substitute gimmicks and parlor games for decent, let alone good, let alone intelligent writing/thinking. Maybe when I was 20 I would have found this remarkable. But now...having read so much traditionally constructed text that is so remarkable...the games get old. Real old. Real fast. And on the sparsest pages...the worst writing.

This book feels interminable. The long s parlor trick was really disappointing. I don't like gimmicks. Fortunately, he keeps them short.

Ugh, so ridiculous as to be camp.

Gheesh, this book. It is slow going by design, it is compelling in a curious way, exhausting mostly.

Should have been titled "Bram Stoker and Friends."

Oh dear, now we are into the puzzles. I'm not here to decode the letter, I turn to online resources.

I thought I'd hate it. So far, I don't.

Im quite sure the author was a pants-er writer. This thing rambles.
