More backstory. The Conrad backstory is particularly offensive as it is predictable and unnecessary in this novel. 1.75 speed and power through.

The back story is irksome and weak. It's filler because the author can't grapple with the affair beyond the superficial plot. 150% speed.

Incredibly dull family back story, and too much of it. Squabbling family present day. Let's get on about the affair or I will DNF this lightweight mess.

Abominable amount of cliches, but it's mildly entertaining on my walks and chores.

Appropriate title. I'm not sure why I'm sticking with this strange novel. Also, the female narrator uses an annoying whisper + vocal fry+ slur technique. Horrible.
