Not my usual genre, it is interesting but not a page-turner.

Took a break

Got used to the writing style. It’s moving quickly, but the only plot is two people having an affair and their feelings about it.

This is written very oddly, not the style I am accustomed to. It’s almost as if the author is narrating both characters internal thoughts in the same sentences they are also speaking to each other. Not a fan so far and no real plot besides them potentially being stuck in a hotel room running through inner dialogues

Waiting for this to get entertaining…

Loving this so far! Reminds me of the beginning of The Housemaid

This book is just ok. Not super suspenseful or engaging, it reads more like a soap opera.

Having a difficult time keeping my attention on it and getting engaged so far

LOVE this! Can’t put it down. The story flows so well and I can already imagine the movie or limited series!

Very enjoyable. Kevin paints amazing visuals of the clothes, resorts, food and bougie night clubs so well it feels like you are there. Love it! This is like 3 novels in one

Very similar style to Kevin Kwans other books (which I love). This one has almost 3 separate stories in one, it’s long!

Giving strong Crazy Rich Asians vibes can totally see the movie already. Loving the fashion and description of the Hawaiian islands

more than halfway now, but wow these characters are atrocious; a bunch of simple-minded 40 year olds obsessed with their siblings. And both female leads are made out to be total clueless morons who are obsessed with not having gone to college. There’s a sentence where Beth says “I hope this sandwich doesn’t upset my tummy”. Yikes. Is this book for toddlers? Please get better asap

I’m trying so hard to like this book. It started off with great detail and painted the picture of Malibu, but the characters are so embarrassingly clueless and one-dimensional. It’s like they’re all simpletons that know nothing despite being close to 40 and working professionals. I will continue on but the plot is thick with cheese and hoping it turns the corner.

Love the plot, a little slow at times, a lot of characters to follow. Making progress, some curveballs to keep it just interesting enough!

I couldn’t get past page 30…had to give up and move on to another sadly
