Really well written and interesting, but slow enough I feel like I need a break.

I've only just got going with this one, and already: wow. I was a huge fan of Tigana and feel the same powerful sweep of events in The Lions.

Ok, the author is beginning to explain stuff now!

This is, without doubt, the hardest and most complex fantasy novel I've ever read. 200 pages in, I only have a vague idea about what is happening. I'm told it is meant to be that way but that doesn't make it any easier to read! I will persevere because it is clear there is an incredible world laying behind this, and some interesting characters, and probably the most complex plot ever created. But it is a slog.

Feeling the urge to put this back on the bookshelf and read it in 20 pages bursts every week until I finish the damn thing. It had better be worth it.

This is the third or fourth time I've tried to read this. It is meant to be excellent but the style (no exposition telling you what it happening) means for the first few hundred pages you apparently have no clue what is going on. Certainly the experience so far bears that out. I'm completely lost. It looks interesting but the author totally expects full attention. Will push on.

Struggling to remain interested. Definitely not a book I can't put down.

This is the third time I've tried to read this, and have always found the beginning a difficult slog. It's starting to pick up now though and I'm getting into it!
