I was there, in this pit, desperately trying to find a way out as every escape route seemed to be closing.And, as many people in this situation discover, you acquire evidence like a detective trying to solve a murder.At first there were no clues, or none I could see. Every day in that pit was hell. Every day, in those first few weeks and months, contained moments of such heavy emotional pain.

The paradox of modern life is this: we have never been more connected and we have never been more alone.

It's one of those things that only exists for humans- like time, color, temperature, loneliness, and now love. All these things that only humans experience. In a way these things rule over or control us, but they also allow us to live fully. And they're precisely what makes us human.

Cats are really something. They’ll just ignore you half the time, but they seem to know when you’re really in need of some comforting.

I guess its the same with life. We all know it has to end someday. Like love, life is beautiful because it has to end.

When someone we love is suffering, sometimes the stress that it brings up can give us the urge to escape how we feel about their pain. But when we do that, we can feel even more helpless and paralyzed because we stop ourselves from providing even some low-level support that could help us to feel more confident in the supporting role.

Shame is not as helpful for motivation as you might think.

When we set ourselves unrealistic expectations, we become trapped by them. That means we suffer whenever there is any sign that we may not be living up to them.
