Page 670 of book 5 of a 15 book series. I can read these books only once every 2 years or so. I might be reading this series for a long time. But, when I get this far in one of these books, I get so absorbed in it. The first 100 pages is like stretching. At this point, I'm in a smooth sprint. The cool down is more like cold turkey though.

The English and the French really want that Normandy beach. Also, peasant revolts and dancing plague, 14th century knew how to party.

I didn't finish it. Maybe I'll go back. A complicated affair of heads of state related to each other but also measuring the pulse of their shared parliaments and potential home-based uprisings.

Just started this book this morning. I usually jump from fiction into non-fiction, which means I'm coming fresh from a D&D adventure novel. Time to get grimy with Russian history. I was looking at other non-fic. books I have, and looking for a creepy Halloween book, what's better than the murder of an entire family that has haunted the world since. Not to mention Rasputin with his documented well-endowed lingering.

As much as the subject interests me, I feel like I'm wafting through a dense fog of prose that'll lead me into a muddy bank. Even when important stuff is happening, I question whether or not it is. This book reminds me continuously of the great syllabus in my head that shames me when I don't finish something.

It's getting a little Being John Malkovich and I love it.
