Continuing my study of the Church Fathers. This has been fantastic. What a joy to learn from others about our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ -- The God-Man.

The chapter on worship was really good. The author made the argument that Baptists should seek better continuity with Christian tradition yet in a way that upholds Baptist freedom in worship. His interaction on the power of the Psalms is excellent. Plus, the author proposes a few areas that Baptists can learn from tradition.

So exciting to learn about Baptist history and thought, while at the same time seeing its rooted-ness in historic Christian faith and classic formulations of essential doctrine and practice.

I have been interested in pursuing a more positive theological and historic identity in being baptist. Seeing it as connected to historic Christian faith and practice, and examining baptist distinctive in light of Church tradition. This book is the first step towards that goal.

This book has been incredible this year. Gorman, as always challenges me to think deeply about the word of God. Although I don't agree with each handling and interpretation he defends--his scholarship is invaluable.

He is a Pastoral writer. A scholar very interested in seeing Biblical insights leads to transformed people.

After a long hiatus, I am back trying to finish this great work.

Chapter 9 is a summation of eight heartbreaking, heartwarming, and funny, and sad chapters. A fantastic chapter.

My vacation read. It is a fantastic book so far.

Allberry may have just written a modern classic. All believers should read this. Praise God for His grace in joining me to Him. Looking forward to finishing this work.
