This is a young adult story

I do not have the right mindset to read another book about the hardships of WWII right now

It’s not bad, but not enthralling.

Written to touch readers’ hearts. It is an African story about an African village, from the pt of view of people in the village. About the ravishing effects of outsiders intruding on their land for oil drilling. It is about the loss of trust, customs, lives and the destruction of their environment due to the wells, oil spills, and general lack of attention to the maintenance and safety of the process

Many mysterious things are happening to the main character when he goes to an island called Amberly to try to move past his writers block and try to not obsess over his missing wife. The mystery grows, but I haven’t figured out what is happening.

I just finished chapter 10, and the last paragraph of chapter 10 makes me know I love this book.

I love the opening. This isn’t ordinarily my favorite genre, but l’ve only just begun reading it and i am already hooked.
