such a heartwarming book and 21 years later this is still relevant. we should not bury ourselves in work. we should be living the life we wanted and enjoy the beauty of it. not getting stressed by every tick of the clock and every second that passes by. eat healthy and cook healthy. hear the chirping of the birds

Well, my hot blood's been burnin' for so many summers now
It's time to cool it down, wherever that leads <3

I look along the endless line, squinting in the sunshine. I’m twenty-nine years old. I can go anywhere. Do anything. Be anyone I like.

This isn’t what I want from my life. This isn’t what I want to do. This isn’t who I want to be.

I don’t want to be someone who doesn’t look out the window.”

"
I look at them, the cream of the legal world, dressed in their thousand-pound handmade suits, holding state-of-the-art computers. Missing out. Not even caring that they’re missing out. Living in their own world.
"

" I can’t obsess about every little chunk of time. I can’t miss out on any more."

samantha is not choosing love over career. she's choosing personal happiness and living the life she wants to

this chaotic and last chapter is such a climax sequence

i want to visit cotswolds someday

the media really followed her huh what is this live coverage for ahahah she's just one of the many lawyers here does wanting to be a housekeeper really made her unique and different?

is having a normal, simple life a fantasyland? is wanting a normal life a fantasyland? shoudn't it be the norm?

“Have you put your career over love?” chimes in a bright-faced girl.

why should we choose between career and love 333

a PR disaster ahahasksksk this is the best!! can't wait for this to be adapted someday into a movieee

but you're not supposed to wait for months just to have a free weekend :(( that's not fair samantha will be living to work at this rate now
samantha will be back to her old ways of living to work :(((
life is short and so is our youth we're supposed to work to live

life is short and so is our youth we're supposed to work to live

her holidays is now over, back to work. back to the stressful and exhausting, life-sucking work

“You’ve had your break, Samantha,” he says. “Now it’s back to work.

“You need to start pulling in business, Samantha Sweeting, equity partner. Can’t rest on your laurels.”

aww so samantha can't really take a break

omg the media is really invested on samantha's return to the law firm sksksk

a press conference just for her comeback as a lawyer? what in the kpop idol is this
shes living the life of a kpop idol with cameras and netizens focused on her
A row of TV cameras is trained on me, photographers and journalists are in a crowd behind

huh so she really chose to go back to the law firm? but then again it's not a logical decision to be a housekeeper and live in the countryside forever but then again it's like she's going back to the place that gave her trauma and triggers

huh so she really chose to go back to the law firm? but then again it's not a logical decision to be a housekeeper and live in the countryside forever but then again it's like she's going back to the place that gave her trauma and triggers

so what is a fulfilling life? i wonder when do we know if the work we do is fulfilling

it's logical if samantha wants to go back to her old job as a lawyer but it makes so much sense if she just continues living a simple and quiet life away from the hustle and bustle

i wonder what samantha will do now. is being a housekeeper just a sabbatical for her? or will she finally get that work-life balance? will she go back to carter spink and clean their name?

it's rational and logical decision vs a simple answer

it's brain vs heart
it's rational vs emotional decision for samantha

at the end of the day it boils down to what you really want and enjoy in life

“Serving food to a bunch of airheads. Letting them patronize you.”

so it's ego after all. guy's ego and pride couldn't stomach serving others. he wants to be known as the smartest in the room huh and being in control

“Do you think women should have careers?”

it's really a matter of choice really it's not about wasting the protesters who fought for an equal foothold. it's just about what you want and what makes you happy. not everything should be generalized and taken seriously

imagine just because of your job people will look and treat you differently how disappointing your status and job role shouldn't define you

lmao a lawyer changing career to housekeeper was made into a tabloid headline

i like that they didnt force the idea that women should stay at home. they welcomed the idea women can also be high powered individuals

"
If I’ve learned one lesson from all that’s happened to me, it’s that there is no such thing as the biggest mistake of your existence. There’s no such thing as ruining your life. Life’s a pretty resilient thing, it turns out."

yeah whats wrong about being a housekeeper

i wonder if she will keep on hiding the truth from the geigers

so it won't affect their dynamics as boss and employee and how they treat her. it would be weird if the geigers will tiptoe around her

i like how defiant she is. how she doesn't look down on blue collared jobs. some high powered lawyers think too highly of themselves that they think they are smarter than everyone else.

oh that didnt go well samantha ended up becoming a laughing stock at arnold's farewell party

i like how samantha didn't allow her title/job dictate how she treats people. shes respectful and kind and didn't think highly of herself even when the geigers thought she was applying as a housekeeper. she wasnt offended but rather glad for the escape and breather they provided to her

samantha's playlist must be evermore

arnold is a crook and he needs to be caught for his evil ways!!

what if arnold also scammed nathaniel's family?

omigod arnold already cleared out his office no effin wayyy

if only we can keep living like this just the simple joys and slow paced life
slow life

life is supposed to be hearing the crickets and bird chirp, watching the sun set, cupping a warm cup of coffee, looking at constellations

it's time to go
right where you left me

the juxtaposition of samantha being once a high powered lawyer but now she's housekeeper learning all the way to live a simple life - plucking ingredients from a garden, learning how to cook and bake

if only we can keep living like this just the simple joys and slow paced life
slow life

oh nooo your closest friend and confidant can be your greatest enemy

the one samantha trusted the most betrayed her!! arnold is evil for doing this

so now nathaniel and samantha are both victims and scammed by lawyers
