Had to put it down during my cross-country move, but I'm slowly getting back into it and enjoying it quite a lot!

Yay for the twist at the end. I loved that I could clearly see the problem the three were facing but couldn't quite figure out how it would be solved. I thought the plot tied up very nicely at the end.

The flashback was intense, and I like the interaction between the three characters. I also rather like Chris getting jealous, wanting to be touched like he matters.

Enjoying this very much so far. Pleasure reading! Loved that John and Chris' roles in bed weren't as most probably expected. Also, calling Chris a manslut made me chuckle in a good way. The tone of the narrative has been amusing for me.

Liked the camaraderie between Anita and Rocco. The pace picked up here, as it tends to do with these more recent AB:VH books. I would have liked more badass gunfight style action for Anita instead of yet more ardeur-infused mind-fuckery to win the day, but it was still relatively good at the end. Last line bothered me because Max illuminated Vittorio's motivation. Then again, I don't like LKH's epilogues in general.

I like the potential in the psychic vampires concept that was expanded just a little. I'm also glad LKH is sending Requiem away. It would have been silly and kinda cruel to handle his case otherwise. Touching bit between Anita and him. Usually, I dislike Requiem's poetic antics, but this time it seemed to fit. Of course, now I have "Time to Say Goodbye" stuck in my head. Not sure if that's a good thing. XD

I enjoyed the bit of drama between Wicked/Truth and Anita, and that she finally asked someone to kill her if she gets too powerful and out of control. The Vittorio stuff that followed was also cool, but I thought Olaf scaring the piss out of the vamps and doing his serial killer bit (again) wasn't all that necessary. I'm interested to see how it wraps up.

I'm left feeling like Anita et al didn't have to work all that hard to find out what's going on. They went to the logical source of information and were handed a lead that almost seems too perfect... like, wrapped up nicely with a bow perfect. I hope there's another twist coming. Otherwise, I can't imagine the book picking up the pace for the next 100+ pages.

I'm enjoying Victor as a character, and I figured he would somehow end up screwing Anita. Even if he did just sleep beside her, I'm kind of glad it was done off-stage, as it were. It's nice not to have too many gratuitous sex scenes.

I'm sorry, but I find it hilarious that Anita now has a whole rainbow of tigers inside her. Their antics are much more engaging than the rest of Anita. LKH is also trying to keep the crime investigation part of the plot alive, but seems to keep getting distracted. Maybe it's just me.

Very much enjoying the book so far. It's reading very smoothly, and I'm enjoying the interaction of the characters. Some of the minor characters are intriguing as well, which is great. ^_^

Finally picked this up again. There's only so much of the recent LKH that I can take before I just need to put the e-book away for a few months. XD

I felt Merry et al didn't have to work at all to solve the crime and beat the bad guy at the end. Enter random character who solves all mysteries! -__-; Even so, read much better than 1st book in series. Not too bad, overall. 3 of 5 stars, perhaps.

This story is definitely reading faster than the first, likely because it has actual plot elements. Some reek of AB:VH, but at least there is action. I'd prefer more action to yet more sex, but the balance is just a little better in this book.

I'm unsure how Maeve Reed wanting a baby from Merry et al even remotely comes close to Merry 'fending off an ancient evil that could destroy the very fabric of reality' or 'the very existence of the place known as Faerie is at grave risk'. 1/3 through the book, and I still don't see the actual plot. Not a good sign.

Enjoying this a bit more than "A Kiss of Shadows". Kitto is always intriguing, and I still enjoy Frost. Not understanding Doyle, but we'll see how that unfolds. It's sort of slow to start with the action and plot. Relationship drama is obviously A-plot here. I want more B-plot. XD

While the blurb for MG1 (A Kiss of Shadows) was all about Meredith returning to Faery Court and weathering assassination attempts, this book's blurb promises Meredith must "fend off an ancient evil that could destroy the very fabric of reality". This one should have more action and mystery to it from the blurb. Let's hope it delivers, since the 1st book just didn't do it for me.

Overall, I'm personally not impressed with these and actually prefer the early Anita Blake books. While the urban fantasy world with all magical creatures had potential, I feel it was wasted on a weak plot of Merry simply coming back to court and dealing with assassination attempts. All baddies were defeated too easily and she already has a harem of men.

The sexual tension in the Anita Blake books made them more appealing to me. This one is nothing but instant gratification, and because of that, it's actually less than gratifying. The male characters far outshine the female protagonist. I wish LKH would just give up her personal cookie-cutter for female protagonists & just write gay erotica.

More showing of powers Merry wasn't supposed to have, 2 people turned inside out, & Griffin betrays & goes on the run. Utterly anti-climactic for me. Book 1 Merry = 7 devoted men (Doyle, Frost, Galen, Barinthus, Rhys, Kitto, and newbie Nicca). It took 6 books for Anita Blake to finally give in to one of the TWO men pursuing her.

The kissing and smexing with Frost was nice, and I love the way his character opened up just a little, but I feel cheated that all the build up with the goblin was glossed over. The drama with Griffin seemed pointless, and gave the impression yet again that everyone's in love with Merry. How this will actually end with any sort of plot climax, I have no clue.

The mini-faeries were kinda cool, and I'm glad there was a little action w/thorn bush o' doom, but I'm unsure where any of this is going now. What happened to the initial plot?
