so far i hate this book.

i’ve been reading this book for almost a goddamn month and i’m only 70% of the way through and it’s only 430 some odd pages long wtf make it ennnnd

i’m fine with all the old norse words, i understand them because of the context in which they’re used and i can also look them up if i’m not sure, because we live in the future. but for the love of all that is holy please stop with “thought-cage” just say mind. please.

i feel like this book is seven thousand pages long. also, annabelle really needs to get a life omg

does anything actually happen in this book or is it just 500 pages of meetings?

the story is decent so far, definitely has potential, but my god the main character sucks. she’s incredibly unlikable, which is ok if it’s done well, but she’s also incredibly unbelievable. her behaviour and dialogue do not match her history at all. and her words don’t even match her actions. we’re constantly told how angry she is, how full of hate, but nothing she says or does back that up.

finding it REALLY difficult to get into this. it’s completely overwritten and the characters are not believable and omg the naming 😑

ok his obsession with Denna is tiresome

judging by the sex scenes in this i’m not convinced the author has ever had actual sex with another real human being.

also, “arse” is possibly the least sexy word a person can use when writing about sex, but “fruits” is high up there.

i feel like i’ve been reading this for a hundred years.
like, i am very interested in the subject matter but the writing is the kind that i end up having to reread paragraphs over and over again because i realize i’m skimming and have no clue what i just read.
if he could just rewrite this with his same sarcasm and dry humor but turn down the academic style by 85% it’d be great 😑
