The book is fascinating and is jam-packed with adventure and the push and pull between a first love and a current love. But I’m at the point where XingYin’s indecisive narration is grating meeee. Please do not be dumb to still pursue LiWei UGHHHH

Writing is utterly beautiful but the pacing is understandably slow.

Writing is unlike any other. It’s almost like a script or a screenplay.
Don’t know why I’ve been picking up Booktok hype recs lately, a couple have been fails but I guess we’ll see how this goes.

I’ve been listening and watching a lot of crime documentaries about the dark side of our modern world. And it’s just mind boggling how the plot to this series seems so far-fetched but at the same time so real— there literally is still sex slavery and all these crazy ritualistic masonry and private groups led by mostly rich white old board and powerful men to this very day. Imma be back.

This is the part where they MIGHT get caught, or the part where HE might just fuck up everything they have both ben leading up to. And things have happened already. Although there's a lot of push and pull, I love our heroine-- she is tenacious and I am here for it!

This book is getting more and more interesting the more I go deeper into it. Least to say is I am enjyoying it quite so. I have missed the angry-angsty female protagonist. She just gets me for some reason. LOL.
What I do not like is the whole cheating thing, on Will's behalf. Goddamit, men, when will you ever learn?!

Gaaaah I missed this! GrumpyXGrumpy and yet the tension is everywhere!!!

Currently listening to the audiobook because reading this is too close to home with my experiences from losing my dad five months ago. 😔

All these pirate talk and banter is actually kind of annoying. And don’t get me started on Kye with his whiny ass, he sounds like a middle schooler for the most part. Ugh MEN. 🙄

I don’t know why I’m so drawn to books set in the sea these days. Maybe it’s all the Moana clips my niece has been obsessing over on YouTube or that book A Cup of Salt Tears.
Either one is a valid reason.
