So far the takeaway is that most people are already resilient because it's extrovert qualities that make people resilient and most people are already extroverts. So to be resilient, just nurture all those traits that make you an extrovert. No mention yet of what introverts who get wiped out by practicing extrovert behaviors and who have had their reserves sapped by the grieving process can do to be more resilient.

OMG, I'd assumed this was self-published. It's not.

Somewhat dense and meandering like "Once Upon a River," but far more enjoyable with far less navel-gazing. Faith restored in a good meander (jinx).

I'm starting to read the negative reviews, never a good sign. One described it as a slow burn. I like slow burns; slow burns have some fire to them. This book I'd describe as waterlogged.

Fortunately, a lot of the negative reviews also praise The Thirteenth Tale, so I needn't swear off the author altogether.

Decided to listen to the audiobook, which is fun, EXCEPT Lee Horsley (aka Matt Houston) shouts all of Gus's dialogue. I can't listen to 37 hours of that. Back to the print edition soon...

I've dipped and dabbled, but now I'm honest-to-goodness reading, start to finish.

Factcheck: Corey Feldman *might* have enraptured a fourth-grader, but the seventh-grade girlfriend had a crush on Josh Brolin. (Though if she was very mature, she might have said it was Feldman so her boyfriend wouldn't feel insecure...)

Got this for a long drive, made even longer by the book's smug tone, down to making fun of someone's name, and maybe made worse by the exuberance of and many accents affected by the audiobook reader. One of those "science for a popular audience" books that makes me ashamed to be considered the audience for it. (But I've got another long drive ahead, so I'll probably finish it. Sigh.)
