I was really enjoying it until chapter 17, "the thief's tale". Now I don't want to finish the book. It was a bookclub choice.

I dislike anecdotal stories that manipulate people's emotions and suggest that "if it worked out for you, it'll work out for everyone with a good heart." The reality is, that's the exception, not the rule.

That popped me out of the story and the next 3 chapters felt contrived.

"On the one hand, we all want to be happy. On the other hand, we all know the things that make us happy, but we don't do those things. Why? Simple. We are too busy. Too busy doing what? Too busy trying to be happy.” -Matthew Kelly, The Rhythm of Life

Time magnifies the margin between success and failure. It will multiply whatever you feed it. Good habits make time your ally. Bad habits make time your enemy.

I thought this article added for their support to what most high-performing athletes do they consistently Focus their mental energy on what is good, on what needs to be done. If your list my listens to criticism and then directs attention to what can be done or what needs to be done and does not open the door to self-doubt. Pg 98
