i think this is better after you have kids and “ruined” your life because reading it before takes all the excitement out and gave me like multiple panic attacks. Its the same as saying your job is horrible, is funny and semi relatable to other employees maybe a ring of alarm to employers, but it would be terrifying for a 18 y.o to hear only the bad parts exaggerated

this is the only feminist book you ever need to read, in enraged me

I dont even know how to describe it but the reading experience is absolutely insane, its a mix of laughter, gut wrenching lines, literally what it means to be human, laughter and lastly crying, and than repeat. Its nothing like I expected

Margaret Atwood deserves her flowers this book is insane

if you are an overworked mom that somehow got the privilege of a sliver of time to read this book, yes it might be good.

But if you think you are gods strongest soldier as a remote worker who works 4h a day and has a tiktok screen time of 8h a day, while you will in fact feel babied by this book currently it doesnt seem to be the book for you

There seems to be a point but it missed me completely. maybe the end will explain it?

it picked up the pace with him taking his mother on a trip, leaving a lot of space for bonding moments or memories, but still a very confusing book

currently he is talking about his dysfunctional family and how rich they are/were but im in a different tax bracket and not german enough i assume to understand all his references. status: kinda bored

because the prose is so complicated, with dreams mixed with memories etc, i cant attach myself to any character, the book is full of tell not show, it is a very frustrating read and experience unfortunately. i wanted to DNF it from 25% i will finish it for the booker prize challenge

i think having a stroke feels like reading this book.

first book I read where 70% is comedy and 30% gruesome horror. Fascinating experience

Given the current political turmoil - marked by the rise of the right wing and the blatant censorship happening right now with “liberal”,”democratic” and “lgbtq+” hastags being quietly erased, i will read this book in hopes of hetting ready for a very dark version of the future
