“The future is very wet,” I say softly. “There are storms. But that’s a long time from now, I think.”

‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ came out in 2003. For context: Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ was 2006. We had such a different relationship to climate change back then: of course it’s having to be a bigger consideration in the sequel.

“A dependable theme in history is that there’s a surplus of powerful perverts, and they always seem to be men.”

Amen, sister.

I’m not hating this! Shocker!

Just enjoying a comforting re-read

“Men who were drowning and refused to kick.”

I am genuinely so confused lol

Ugly crying on the train

There’s a small part of me that wants to know mostly about Mia and Marco *but* as soon as the others take over narrating I’m all-in on their stories too

If you like the Netflix series THE FOUR SEASONS - you’ll love this

Thoroughly enjoying this

I love when I get to a point in a SHARDLAKE book where I go; “Jesu, leave this poor man alone - HE’S JUST A LAWYER!”

Gawd. Israel plays America like a fiddle.

Get back to the goddam well, Shardlake!

In a book of villains, Elon Musk is coming across like the King of the dumbshit villains, let me tell you

‘This is the worst time. Things will improve.’
‘When the monasteries are down?’
‘Yes. Because Reform will finally be safe. And because then Lord Cromwell will have enough money to make the realm secure from invasion and do much for the people. He has great plans.’

Set in 1537 and so many echoes to now.

This isn’t a criticism of the Irish narrator’s accent, but he’s genuinely mispronounced so many words and does weirdly long pauses in the middle of sentences?!

I swear, this narrator is evoking the spectre of Peter Lorre from ‘Casablanca’ for the familiar

“It's easy to set fires in a life that seems like a simulation.”

I’m gonna try and guess it now; is she hallucinating from having drunk unpasteurised milk? Or does she have mad cows’ disease from eating contaminated beef?

WHAT A BOMBSHELL!!!!!!

Trying to get hyped for what will be season 5 or 6 of BRIDGERTON television series

Lewis finally understood the log line of their love story: he was an aimless kite in search of a string to ground him to the world, but instead, he’d found Wren, a great, strong wind who supported his exploration of the sky.

“Proximity to the thing I’m most afraid of. A strong sense that I know how it might feel to lose a child. Marinating in someone else’s grief like it could season me to the bone.”

I also hate lamb and think it tastes like “barn”

“Times change, but people rarely do.”

I appreciate that Virginia had not been taught to recognise red flags, especially pertaining to men. That becomes clearer and clearer as she talks about her married life too.

My face as I am listening to this on a walk with my dog is just thunder and lightning, and I swear there are times when I’m reading this and I am so sick, sad, and angry that I could snap a man in two.

Yes, I am rereading this in preparation for the
“Movie” that is coming. I am reminded how delighted I was, that the first few chapters are just a new visitor to the Moors being a gossipy biatch.

Why do I feel like Asil isn't going to walk away with a love-interest after this ...?
