I love this book so much. I have struggled with food since I was in second grade & told my parents what I had always heard them say, “I’m on a diet.” My relationship to my body & food pretty much spiraled in lies from that point on & so many years later I heard my own battle with food come out of my children’s mouths. Brandice has given me powerful tools, language & truth and I’m not even done reading yet!

I think I’ve come to see what I’m at odds with in Best’s work is more that he takes the outlying ideas and warns against them. (E.g. Icons should never diminish the undefinable nature of God or else become idols. But only in the last page of the chapter does he say there’s a difference between Iconology and Iconolatry. In this way, using an outlying concept to base the whole chapter.)

For my final review: Sometimes I find that Best splits hairs so finely that it’s nearly impossible for me to understand what he’s trying to get at. Every option seems impossible or wrong by his presentation. I’m sure that’s user competence but still…
