It's interesting because this book is an incredibly intimate picture of Kyle's inner life & yet so much of it is about how he struggles to be vulnerable & how David allowed him to feel comfortable & loved enough on set to be vulnerable. I just got done reading about the filming of the scene where Jeffrey breaks down crying in Blue Velvet and how that was really the first time he was ever able to do that.

The twin brother plot in this is SO WILD, and I really love it.

Never before have I considered the particulars of the magical realism of the book - only for Ray himself to entertain the thought that the ball players are tulpas (though he doesn't use that term) conjured into being by his own belief in them.
