I promised myself that I wouldn't dnf any books this year but my God this one is really a struggle to keep going with, from the lack of story and build up to the " mushroom headed dicks" description ( least sexy image EVER) . The writing is so bad, not in a but so bad it's good just in a it's incredibly bad way.

God dammit, the first book was so meh but Luther made me want to go on to the second one and fuck me it's actually good, yes Diem is still the dumbest person ever and you just want to slap her for listening to Aemmon etc But the political intrigue, Luther, Eleanor, Taran, Alixe and Diem when she's not being brain dead are actually fun characters and damn Luther is a hell of a guy 😍

I'm only 100 pages in and I already know that by the end Adam Nevill will have me so terrified I'll be sleeping with the lights on. He is a master of suspense and terror and this is why I love his books

I thought Jesse Ward was king of the douches but Anthony Rawlings definitely stole his crown. I'm co between wondering why I'm continuing to read this but wanting to know what in the hell is going on.

24% in and I'm really struggling with this. The narrative is annoying, the story so far is very cliched and as of yet I haven't clicked with any of the characters. Sticking with it because I've heard good things sadly I think the sublime fae series by Julie Kagawa and the wicked lovely series by Melissa Marr are so good anything else is going to have a hard job beating them.

I've made it to page 235. The constant use of This Man in sentences is driving me nuts Ava seems incapable of think about Jesse with any other title, "this man melts me." "This man captivates me." "This man can control me" "this man is so hot" "i think I'm in love with this man". Really Miss Malpas try using some more descriptive words may even use he or him on occasion.the word On is used incorrectly often too.
