I can already tell this is going to end w some sort of insane cliffhanger. Why do these books build up for 500 pages and then in the last 100 everything just EXPLODES???

What the heck just happened????

Plenty of time to read when you’re up all night because 2/3 kids are barfing their brains out every 15 minutes.

Whimsical and interesting so far. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I’m just getting into it.

Scottish ski town setting… cute enough.

This book is cute and I’m enjoying it more than the first (How My Neighbor Stole Christmas) probably because we watched Home Alone the day I started this book so the little connections were fresh in my mind. This book is corny as heck but still pretty cute. Kind of light on plot, heavy on corny Home Alone references and spice but meh… it’s ok.

The corny charm of this book is growing on me.

Positive- only like 1 illustration so far.
Negative- it’s so corny it’s almost boring. I need something to happen … and soon. It’s mildly funny but in a very low hanging fruit sort of way.

So far this is almost painfully corny. FMC is Storee, MMC is Cole Black (coal), town is Kringle, aunt Cindy Louis, the grinch (MMC)’s best friend is named Max. It’s trying so hard to hint at The Grinch, it’s a bit much. Hopefully the story redeems itself.

Started off as a typical Meghan Quinn book - very millennial, very witty. I can already see the terrible illustrations coming.

This is the part of the book I just want to read all in one sitting. Does my family really need dinner tonight? Do they really need clean clothes??

My thanksgiving morning break has concluded. No more reading till late tonight… if I can stay awake. 😂

Entertaining. Magical. A fun read so far.

Magical and immersive.

Idk why I put this off. I forgot how magical and immersive these books are. They’re scary and fantastical and have interesting characters with tragic backstories.

“Their house is in a tony suburb…” I was just sure this was a typo but when I googled it… turns out it’s not! Tony means fashionable among wealthy or stylish people. Who knew?? 🤷🏻‍♀️

So far this is interesting about gymnastics and some of the details about what it’s like for families of competitive gymnasts and what the training and competitions are like. If you’re curious about gymnastics, you’d probably enjoy the first part of this book. I don’t have any particular interest in gymnastics, but I never don’t want to know something so 👍🏻👍🏻

this story is magical and I love it. It reminds me of a very self aware In Five Years. And in fact the premise is so closely related I wonder if this book was inspired by that. Some things about the book are a little “on the nose” though - the apartment is really “B4”? The lemon pie? Like I feel like some of this is too obvious, I think there must be a twist at some point because it’s just like TOO OBVIOUS
