There is just something about Ira Levin’s writing. The way he evokes emotions in me so quickly. He’s amazing.

Never mind. It’s actually going into the fantastical. Meh.

After a long time, I’ve finally made it through that damn dream sequence! And then reading went smoothly from here. It’s getting over the top but not too over the top to be completely unrealistic. Norman is just crazy!

A third in I still don’t know what to think of it. I don’t really feel the protagonist. The unlikeable family members are doing their job of being unlikeable family members. If the spoiler i saw was correct, the half-sister is involved in the murders.

Chapter 43 was so gruesome. Chapter 44 broke me.

I had a feeling chapter 23 would be eventful. Boy, was I right. I’ve bookmarked the first two pages because they read so beautifully. And the commander has made his move. Dang, it’s gonna get more complicated.

That disgusting ceremony. Repulsive on screen as it was to read it. The show captured the entire revulsion really well. I’m impressed. So much ick.

It took a bit more than one third to finally become interesting because not a single character was appealing. I liked none of them before they were awarded more depth in the second third. It’s picked up quite a bit and now it looks like the protagonist could have been the bad guy all along. The connections would have only made sense like this.

I freaking hate Amanda. She’s not the victim. She’s caused everything bad that’s happened to her family but trying to blame Ruth and wanting her to take care of her mess. If she doesn’t face any consequences that’s going to affect the rating.

Three thirds, three sisters. I like it. But also, is he just obsessed with them because what’s his goal?!?

Bud what??? Of course. But ehh, Levin you’d improve.

It’s so interesting and intense to read the protagonist’s view. It’s so exciting and my body reacts very strongly to the writing. But I want him to fail so badly. He’s such an egotistical asshole who has just turned into a true monster. I hate him so much.

While the other Levin novels took quite a while to get into, this one was instant in comparison. Compelling from the get-go.

I’m liking this a lot.
