First off, I love that we, the readers, are putting the pieces together with Alex. We don’t know why her mother disappeared and came back, we don’t know why the Mass Dragoning happened, but we get glimpses and hints through Alex’s storytelling. The hushed whispers, and overheard arguments make me wish I could snoop around to solve the mystery myself, rather than waiting for Alex to live through it.

Daaang, okaaaay! It took me a couple chapters (bite sized!) to get pulled in, but now I’m invested. The introduction of the concept of dragoning, along with the witness accounts scattered throughout have my gears turning, and then sewn into Alex’s story brings life and empathy to those affected. Vibrant descriptions help tie it all together nicely so far! Bummed I have to go to bed and pick up again tomorrow.

My one teeny complaint so far is that I wish there was an index with a very brief summary of each woman's story. I can't keep straight who just fell out of love, whose husband cheated with a Broadway actress, etc. Just a quick 2 pager that's easy to locate. So far I'm just bookmarking the first chapter with my hand and flipping back as needed. It works just fine, but I love a good visual index.

I love the set up of this book so far. Sections are spaced out and there's bite sized anecdotes throughout that make reading this book a joy so far. Very informative, but not overwhelming.

Okay, I'm trying. Truly I am. But it's becoming a chore to pick this up at the end of each day. My complaints are still the same; lots of story but no substance. I think maybe I'm too old to enjoy this? Stone keeps referencing that she feels too old at 28, so at 31 I must be a real geezer. That must be it.

I don't think this will be a DNF, but I have plenty of gripes with this book. Early on, Stone makes a job at another woman's weight and it just feels bitter and petty, but as I'm finding out, that's kind of the theme here.

I'm also not a fan of Stone's writing style. It's too casual for my liking, and not very descriptive. Easy to read, sure, but coming off of beautifully written nonfiction, this is a stark contrast

The ebook has some noticeable grammatical and spelling errors, but that was also the case with If You Really Loved Me. Otherwise, I'm still hooked!

I feel like Rule is -sort of- circling around the details we already know, giving little bits each time we revisit a player in the game. It's building a ton of anticipation for me and I'm mentally screaming "COME ON!" at the page because I'm dying for the next piece of evidence to shine through. Getting harder to put down once I settle in.

Very immersive from page 1! This is my 2nd Ann Rule book and again my only complaint so far is that the prologue is a little dry for my taste. Rule does a great job setting the scene, as always; it's just not my personal preference.

Luckily I'm invested in the story of this series, because if I was reading it for the erotica I'd be getting bored. St. Clair uses the same 5 colloquialisms and the scenes feel kind of... unrealistic? I just like the story so much and I feel like these unnecessary, stale sex scenes really detract from that. For example: The idea of having intense passionate sex after witnessing a terrorist attack just doesn't jive.

I'm hooked. The romance doesn't feel cheesy and the steamy scenes have a purpose beyond making the reader cringe. It all reads so naturally and beautifully. I almost feel like I'm intruding on the intimate moments of these characters, rather than them performing for me within the story.

First impressions are good! I love a good modern retelling and this is definitely hitting the spot. It feels a teeny bit immature, but that may just be because I'm getting old and college kids (even fictional ones) now feel a little naive and... ditzy. Regardless, looking forward to really digging into this during my free nights.

Oooh, I'm so invested in Blix and Marnie's blooming friendship. Blix is seriously my #witchygoals, with her spells and gaudy fashion.

I've been trying to read this for at least a month but keep losing interest because it's very confusing (and not in a mysterious fun way). Finally starting to pick up at page 75 and still pushing my way through because I think I'll love it once I can really become invested and finish.

I am completely taken by this book! This is such a wonderfully spun twist on the classic, and I'm so invested in Elle and Darien as individuals. The texting dynamic between them builds anticipation and makes my heart race thinking about all the possibilities. It's taking everything in my power not to read ahead.

This is starting off very promising! The main characters are charming and feel like real people, and the 'villianous' characters have that 'love to hate' thing going very well for them. Really looking forward to diving deeper into Elle, Darien, and Starfield's stories.

Yup. I'm certain this book really is as predictable as I'd imagined. The only thing I didn't see coming is the sudden change of Flynn's voice, from Film Noir style addressing the reader directly to a more casual (and welcome) tone. The writing hasn't improved but is easier to ignore now. Absolutely filled to the brim with racist stereotypes and cliches. Reads like an edgy 8th grader wrote it, but I haven't given up

First couple chapters feel juvenile and poorly stylized. Narrator addresses the reader directly and occasionally breaks the fourth wall, which I'm not a fan of at all.

By page 25 I'm confident I have this story figured out, which has intrigued me enough to keep reading. I'm getting more interested in the plot, if only because I want to know if my hypothesis is correct.
