What sound does fluttering hair make? Swoosh-swoosh?

“The men rose in unison and tossed their plates and cups into the wastebasket.”

I wonder what rising in unison sounds like? A collective creaking of knee joints?

It’s hard for me to tell how good these translations are, as I cannot read the original Russian. However, I have a feeling they could be better. Maybe I’ll look for a different translator, to compare.
