K is starting The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story
There is a good reason conservatives need to denigrate this book. It lays bare the sins of the nation and exposes how willingly wealthy white men were and are to destroy themselves and everyone else to enslave and exploit people.

I just need to make this comment so I don’t forget. When she talks about humiliation being the cause of violence it flirts dangerously close to victim blaming. No one deserves to be on the receiving end of violence. She describes humiliation as being similar to shame except you think you don’t deserve it. And that last part is the key. It is almost always entitled people who resort to violence after humiliation.

He forgets that another reason older scientists may be less religious is because they've been around other non-religious people for longer. You cannot discount how others' thoughts impact your own. I'm a bit surprised he didn't mention it, as so far he has been rather meticulous is his arguments.

So far I am really enjoying this story, read almost 200 pages yesterday. I read some criticism of the lack of imagery, and I will say compared to other fantasies it is lacking. But I appreciate her descriptions, enough to draw a picture but not so much to bog the story down, a problem in most fantasies.

Ever seen Requiem for a Dream? This book gives me that same unsettled feeling. For some that may make a good book, for me, I want to escape the bad parts of the world not bathe my mind in them.

I really am enjoying this story but I am so confused. There is so much that has happened in previous books that is alluded to in this book that I just don't remember. It makes for a slow read.

There is just something about this book that leaves me feeling unsettled on my opinion of it. I think it is the constantly changing perspectives that leave it feeling inconsistent.
