The flip-book "title page" at the beginning of this book is some of the coolest, most creative book design I've seen. So good.

Goodreads, you had a big meeting and made yourself a new logo. Great! Now can you finally fix the friggin broken notifications when someone comments on my book review? It's been

R: mosquitoes. "What an incredible reversal this was, to have graduated with honors only to play live bait to creatures with a ten-day lifespan. You could always tell they were about to feed by the way they rocked back and forth, like they were dancing."

"she did, nevertheless, admit the reflective—or neurotic—space offered by a diary was more often than not erased on the internet by a form of diffuse, opium haze of hope."

It'd be interesting to compare the first chapter of this to the first chapter of DeLillo's Mao II, that book with its giant Moonie spectacle and this one with it's giant Moon spectacle (Moon, here, being a member of a k-pop boy band playing an arena show). I imagine if you could distill the difference between the two you'd arrive at the difference between postmodernism and metamodernism. Just a thought.

The spider brings the web out of herself and then lives in it.
Remarkable.

It only made sense that the waters of renewal in these dreadful times would have to be a little strange, even abhorrent, and certainly not inviting. Submergence should be fearsome, initiation an ordeal, ordination a grim awakening!

Situationist International Anthology
And you, forgotten, your memories ravaged by all the consternations of both hemispheres, stranded in the Red Cellars of Pali-Kao, without music and without geography, no longer setting out for the hacienda where the roots think of the child and where the wine is finished off with fables from an old almanac. Now that's all gone. You'll never see the hacienda. It doesn't exist.
The hacienda must be built.

Question for friends who read small press, out there-ish literary fiction. Where besides Goodreads do you discover new books? Are there any online publications that are go-to's for reviews?

Happy Friday, Goodreads friends! I have a new story out on the experimental literary horror site
ergot.
It's a "cutting" from the Grimm's fairytale "The Juniper Tree." So if you're feeling ghastly today,
check it out
