Marilyn Shea is on page 107 of 304 of Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy
I maybe shouldn't have attempted to read this book during a pandemic. Though I fortunately have a job and a place to live, so many people are losing their jobs and are at risk of eviction. This situation makes it tough to relate to the problems of a rich white woman who has to sell some of her blue chip stocks to buy and remodel an Italian villa. Poor rich white woman. My heart bleeds for you, dear.

Just got this first edition copy from the UK, 1961, and it appears to have been from the library in Glasgow. How exciting. An old favorite from childhood. I look forward to reading it again.

Marilyn Shea is on page 157 of 303 of Lost at School: Why Our Kids with Behavioral Challenges are Falling Through the Cracks and How We Can Help Them
This book is something like a bible in my job, and most of the terms Greene uses are ones embedded in our professional lingo. Still, it is difficult to read after work because it describes things I face every day and don't always want to think about. It also describes kids with what seem like simple problems, compared to the deep, layered challenges of my students who have severe trauma histories.

Marilyn Shea is on page 89 of 964 of Anna Karenina
Not even one-tenth of the way through this huge story, but it simmers slowly, and like someone being boiled alive in a hot tub, I drowsily read it at bedtime and am held captive before drifting into oblivion for the night. That reading challenge I've set up is suffering because it is taking me so long to read this. I've read it sometime before in my youth so it's vaguely familiar, like someone I met in high school.

Marilyn Shea is starting The Apron Book: Making, Wearing, and Sharing a Bit of Cloth and Comfort
Charming little book, filled with many vintage aprons. There are directions for making several aprons and an actual paper pattern inside the back cover.

Marilyn Shea is on page 56 of 467 of Kafka on the Shore
I'm on page 56. The title made me wonder whether or not Murakami meant to make a connection to the Philip Glass opera, "Einstein on the Beach."

I have finished the first of these two short novels, Wind. I liked its spare style. The author's description of the characters is the only indication that he cares about them. Reading this story is like gnawing on bones.

Had to return this to the library unfinished. I thought, if I had to suffer through another cup of redbush tea, I would go mad. What I loved about the series initially, the slow pace and insightful descriptions, began to hang on me like wet clothing. Couldn't wait to claw them off.
