I'm still reading and of course compare it to David Copperfield. Despite his very young age it didn't take me long to get conditioned to his misfortune and understandably low expectations. Every once in awhile I'm hit with a huge wave of emotion, an example being his description of taking his great uncle outside to fly the kite. Reminds me of TV's Ted Lasso, each time anticipating my inevitable tears at the end.

3rd time on this series. 30 years since my first reading, at one time it created exciting optimism of an unknown future; the next time fond memories. This time it's a test of accepting paths not taken, appreciating of the reality of what is and leaning to enjoy this journey. Born in Seattle, lived in Anchorage, San Francisco, New York, Honolulu, New Orleans and Seattle again. My 20s and 30s in "The City": amazing.
