I have decided to make 2025 the Year of the Tome. I may not read 50 books, but let's see how many of the big books I can get off of my to read shelf. I loved the mini series back when I was a kid and when Audible had it on a bogo sale, I picked it up.

I am really enjoying this novel - I am 44% of the way through it with 21 hours left to go and it is due to go back to the library today. Hopefully the 5 other people in front of me aren't going to check it out yet and I will get it back soon. I am guessing it won't be for everyone - it seems to be a short story told in a very long manner - lol.

I am really not enjoying this book. I dispose the whiny bitchy female characters and the inane magical powers the characters possess. For some reason I am still reading….

I am reading this on as part of the TOB Summer Camp 2024 as I am struggling to find a good read. I can already tell this is not a favorite genre - magical realism and fantasy but it has the same flavor as Liv Grossman's The Magicians as well as Neil Gaiman's American Gods. I am willing to stay with it a little longer.

I remember watching this movie as a kid. I am taking my grands to the Space and Science center in Huntsville next week and thought I would read a little historical fiction about the space program before we left.

DNF - I l had problems understanding Zadie's strong accent and the book meanders and needs more concentration than what I can give it right now.

Can’t get into this one…

Pausing my reading of the Booker List for something more light-hearted. Booth and The Trees back to back almost did me in... Please let me find this funny and not stupid.

3. There is no Sam's Club anywhere near Money. 4. The MBI is located in Jackson (2 hrs away), not Hattiesburg (3.5 hrs away) 5. White Mississippians do not use the "N" word, or use "colored" or "negro" to refer to Blacks or African Americans. I am guessing where this book is going and I'm good with that but please know we are not as back woods as this book is making us out to be. 1960 - ok, 2021 no.

7 of my reading friends have rated this book a 4-5 star book. IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS!!! As it is a Booker long listed book I intend to finish reading it as well as to find out why it is so highly rated. I will say I have read Everett before and like his books. That said: 1. Mississippians will never call themselves hillbillies. We are red-necks. 2. Money Ms is a town of 400 most likely 100% African American.

Abandoned. Did not like the narrator at all!

Listening to this one with Aidan

Very slow listen as the tale is complicated - but really enjoying the book. It is a cross between Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, Alice in Wonderland and a jigsaw puzzle. Unfortunately my library download expired and I am back on the wait list...

Akkkk! I am hating this book! It is supposed to be about a dog. So far only every third chapter is about the dog. The other 2/3 is blather!!!

Going to abandon for a while...

Can you say slog? I really love the actual storyline but the details of every kind of whale and every kind of albino animal is taking its toll. I am going to put it down for a bit to finish another PBS reads book before continuing with this one.

I "think" I read or skimmed this in high school and I am currently reading it as part of the PBS Great American Read project. I absolutely love the story chapters. However I am listening without comprehending the technical sections.

I wish someone had given me this book years ago. I now know why Faulkner is considered a fantastic author. I am only 1/2 through, but loving The Hamlet. I love Faulkner's manner of telling a story - he makes a short story long with his round about style and descriptions making the readerthink back to the beginning of that story to remember, "oh, yeah, that is where we are going."
