I’m suffering… so much. Given the interesting premise, this book is so freaking boring…

Thuy Pham is starting The Bumper Book of Nature: A User's Guide to the Outdoors
One look at this book and I already know that I would love it. It reminds me of someone I know who loves road trips, hiking, and national parks. What adventures we had. If I could, I’d go again in a heartbeat.

“So if you and your husband ever get in an argument, move to the living room or bathroom. He can’t kill you with a Q-tip. He can throw the remote at you, but you won’t die.” Amazing wisdom

Thuy Pham is starting The Big Necessity: The Unmentionable World of Human Waste and Why It Matters
“In Mrs. Tien’s kitchen, I am given what will be the first of many biogas demonstrations. They generally proceed like this: switch on the biogas. Sniff. Express pleasure that it smells only faintly sulphuric. Light the gas. Express more pleasure. Switch on the light... Mrs. Tien seems genuinely excited to demonstrate her free gas, though I get the sense she’s done it before.”

Thuy Pham is starting Paper: Paging Through History
I’ve loved Kurlansky‘s work ever since Salt but after reading Cod, I pick up history book by other authors as well. I have to say, reading other author and then go back to Kurlansky really helps me appreciate him as an author and an intellectual. Boldly and confidently write about culture around the world with such depth and grace. I’d love to hang out with this guy.

Thuy Pham is starting Rain: A Natural and Cultural History
While reading this book, something went off in my brain and suddenly I understand the core idea behind forecasting so I’m thankful for that.

While the book is about rain, the writing itself is quite dry. Put me to sleep several times but it could be amusing from time to time.

I love Chelsea Handler for her outrageous humor and she’s kind of a hot mess. It’s revolting sometimes but it’s refreshing because it takes me out of my brain so I would go for her book for a disconnection of sort. This book feels different. It scares me a bit.

About Harland Sanders: “He was a lawyer for a little while too, but had to stop practicing because he punched one of his clients. He also shot a man but got off because the other guy started it.”
