Genie Mitchell is on page 90 of 129 of How to Connect (Mindfulness Essentials #8)
This little book is filled with big ideas on achieving mindfulness. I read each meditation in the morning with a cuppa coffee and a kitty in my lap. Truthfully, it has helped me in my journey.

Genie Mitchell is on page 72 of 212 of Ancient Blood (Navajo Nation Mystery #3)
Ancient Blood by Allen Chappell, book 3 in the series Navajo Nation Mystery. I am totally engaged by his writing set in the desert SW featuring a deep understanding of the people, traditions, culture and challenges.

It is astounding to read the amount of legal work that went into fighting segregation.

Genie Mitchell is starting The Good Turn (Cormac Reilly, #3)
Great characters and plot in this continued crime procedural. Cormac Rieley is reassuring even when the stakes are so against him. Brilliant!

Brutally sadistic. Should come with a warning. Did not finish.

Genie Mitchell is on page 200 of 374 of Unlikely Warriors: General Benjamin H. Grierson and His Family
This book was recommended by Beth Francell since it's about the National Historical Fort in here in Fort Davis. What I like best about "Unlikely Warriors" are the details about his relationships with his family, father, mother, sister, brother, and especially his devotion to his wife Alice and their children. Alice figures prominently in the book on her own merits.

Genie Mitchell is on page 25 of 304 of Natural Rivals: John Muir, Gifford Pinchot, and the Creation of America's Public Lands
Preservation vs. Conservation a new way (for me) of defining views to managing public lands. Published this year, the book offers a balanced way forward. I love having the Cast of Characters, the Timeline of Key Events, the Prologue and the historic photographs. John Clayton writes an engaging story.

Genie Mitchell is on page 50 of 320 of How Democracies Die: What History Reveals About Our Future
Before I began reading this book, I was worried that it would be a total downer. I couldn't understand how our current situation came about when a majority of voters are pro democracy. Apparently this view is wrong. "It assumes too much of democracy -- that "the people" can shape at will the kind of government they possess." It is an imperfect system that benefits from gatekeepers. Examples of success & failure.
