Before I began reading this book, I was worried that it would be a total downer. I couldn't understand how our current situation came about when a majority of voters are pro democracy. Apparently this view is wrong. "It assumes too much of democracy -- that "the people" can shape at will the kind of government they possess." It is an imperfect system that benefits from gatekeepers.
