An odd book. Old Hollywood as a faerie court?

Oh, come on! I've been enjoying this silly, ridiculous book for all of it's silliness, but now you're telling me the mortal-angel is pregnant by rape from the mortal-demon??? You've lost me. How do you even get out of this? Obviously the mortal-angel can't abort (she's an angel, after all), but she can't birth the demon and doom the world, either! This is just silly to the max.

This does not need to be almost 500 pages. I'm ready to DNF this bad boy, but I'm curious about anything and everything that doesn't involve Mahit. Seriously. How do you forget to give your main character a personality or wants?

This thing does not need to be 400 pages. Take out the descriptions of smiling and laughing, and you're left with maybe 280 pages...

I'm 100 pages in and I don't know if I want to continue?? Skimming, it seems promising, but I just don't want to deal with everything else?

I love these ponderous doors. So many ponderous doors! It's almost as if no other word existed for clumsy or lumbering or clunky doors.

500 pages and you can't spare one for minotaur/human sex? So far the cover is false advertisement; we get minotaurs that disappear by page 100, and one comes back around 360. It's just a lot of philosophy and typos

Finally passed the 200 mark. On one hand, I almost understand what's happening, but on the other I'm completely lost. I'll almost follow a battle and then new lingo, with no explanation, is introduced. And then there's whatever is happening between Cheris and Jedao. Part of me wants to give up and yet another part kinda wants to keeps going

Cautiously optimistic? I know it's a little Warhammer, and a whole lot of confusion... and the first chapter definitely didn't disappoint. Confusion abounds! But is there a pay off?

I found this forever ago in a dollar store, thinking it might make a quick, boring read one day. I'm honestly enjoying the heck out of it. Guessing at the mystery has been fun, too

100 pages of architecture and people touching alien tech that's often described as rectilinear and dodecahedron. But basically the book is about walking through this corridor that connects to this corridor which connects over to this corridor...
Buddy, I'm not making a map of their journey. I don't care about every room and corridor, and they really don't need to be described. This is a waste of word count??

Now that 200 pages slogging through exposition and somewhat world- and character-building is out of the way, the story actually begins! And the POV changes from third-person to first-person as we follow Ivy in her new role. Interesting. Will we see Rafferdy or Garritt now? Why not just have those 200 pages as a separate novel???

DNF on page 176. School reading is more important than pleasure reading. But this isn't a bad brick! I want to come back to it!

He was in a simulated battle and they want to promote him to a commanding position based on that one simulation!!!!!! Let's not forget he's impersonating a person who has on their official record "arrogant, rude, selfish, impulsive" and is supposedly, like, 20? AND THE "OVERLORD" OF THE FLEET IS LIKE "AH YES, THIS GUY SOUNDS PERFECT TO TAKE OVER FOR ME" WHAAAAAT

If this was written by a man, I'd be real concerned. But as it is, I'm saying this is some crazy satire. We know going in that Nate is a pretentious butt but yikes. The way this guy hyperfocuses on "unfeminine" things and shoots down women having their own opinions... he wonders if he's misogynistic but doesn't believe so. Um, bruh, bad news for you...

This thing is a BRICK and has a lot of elements in play, but I'm actually enjoying the different POVs giving us a look at different cultures and societal levels. Also, wlw relationship!! "And when Hetty smiled, the universe smiled" MY HEART

As soon as Sev was introduced, I knew he was The Guy. The Guy to ruin the book, The Guy to ruin the relationship. Like, just forget your entire life with your girlfriend who you were happy to marry a few weeks ago and go start kissing on this guy. When this was renamed and rebranded as bi, I wondered if it was the work of the publisher. Now I know for sure

I hate that my brain focuses on names that end with A. Starts with A? Fine, perfect, lovely name. More than two names that end with A? Awful, can't stand it, WHY SO MANY! Why does my brain care so much!
But in case anyone cares: Kaia, Mena, Thileva, Rashida, Strata, Vilna. Not to mention Ilvera and Lumina.

The chapters are so short that it's difficult to stop reading. But this is definitely a "baby's first" kind of YA fantasy. Still, I'm actually kind of enjoying it?
