I'm listening to audiobooks because the pain has had me bedridden since Saturday and don't feel I can accurately rate these books when I'm finished, but they're keeping me sane.

This book would be better if our FMC wasn't insufferable. Kingfisher does one, harmless but slightly rude thing and she's whining for 4 pages about how she'll never forgive him as if he just killed her pet. This dynamic only seems to exist to call them enemies to lovers.

It generally takes me 5 chapters to get a feel for whether or not I'll enjoy a book. She had "inspired by the legend of Xishi" but we'll see.

I started the audiobook when I had a fever and the narration is so well done that I am having a good time automatically. Switching to my library book was weird.

I find it hard to enjoy a romantasy when we're presented with a world we want to explore then don't for the sake of focusing on the internal struggles of our fmc and a slow burn romance. I guess that's just what this genre is????? I'm new here.

I found a dramatized adaptation of the audiobook to listen to because I cannot focus on books when I'm sick, but I need something to scratch the itch and get my mind off the pain.

This ARC is great so far. I already preordered my signed copy from a small business here in Boston. 🥰

Re-reading this because who knows what happened in detail after almost a decade? haha I need to re-read before I can Wind and Truth for the best reading experience.

Maybe it's too soon to judge, but I think this will be one of my favorite books I read in 2024.
