Finally getting to the actual poem

I only started this because an Obama book rec coincided with a kindle deal. So, you know, thanks, Obama.

That catfight in the florist’s shop made Anne look like an asshole along with the lady she was chewing out. All the brand name dropping is stilted and awkward. I really loved LOSER OF THE YEAR but this seems like it was written by someone else. I like that the women are older, but I don’t know that I like it enough to put up with Anne’s bad personality for a whole book

This is certainly taking its time getting going. I’m really not getting the sense that these women were exemplary thieves in their youth, so I’m dubious about their chances as septuagenarians. There are so many books now about old people either doing or solving crimes, but the Osman books seem to be the only good ones.

Ok, pegging. It was okay. I might not need to read any more of this.

The only reason I’m reading this is the promise of PEGGING but instead I’m getting relationship and feelings. Oh, and sex in a fireworks stand imminently, but I don’t anticipate pegs there.

I’m reading this for the presumed train wreck. Already, there is too much egregious poetry.

What is this book even about? Serial killers? Unsubstantiated theories about lead poisoning? The author’s unhappy childhood? A plethora of Washington State bridges? I don’t think I’m going to finish this one

“The other man” and then “the other man” and still “the other man” yet again. Every time I’m screaming in my heart. I don’t know if I can get through this sex scene, much less the whole book

This is my first Heyer and it's not what I expected. Per the reviews, this might be the *worst* Heyer, and that tracks. Not loving it.

So far, this is lacking in any depth, which makes it dull for me.

So far, neither romantic nor comedic.

This is tedious. I'm not in a wine-y book club, so why am I reading this? Unclear whether I will finish.

OMG this is the second romance novel I've started, only to realize it's 1D fanfic. It's written with 5 characters--the main 2 guys, and the other 3, who are stuck to them like limpets/unlike real human men. Ugh. I doubt I'll finish this.

With its Venetian-flavored world, this reminds me a little of LIES OF LOCKE LAMORA, my all-time favorite fantasy-caper

This is fine, except I really wanted to read a story about an excellent bouncer and his club-related adventures, but this is ex-Special Forces doing lavish crimes, and I don't actually care about that.

I think this is just not my author.

Antoinette is hard and defensive and unlikable, and I understand why, but she's a hard character to be with for all this endless PROCEDURE. I like police procedurals, but this is really methodical.

Thanks, I hate this. The main character and especially her little son make my skin crawl.

I can't quite believe I care enough to read this, but we did just finish watching all of THE CROWN.

I'm INCREDIBLY disappointed this is a book about the little sister instead of Robin and Edwin. I wanted more of their story and I don't care about Maud at all.

People who have no inner lives have nothing and don't know to want anything. They're boring, tbh. I'm anticipating a DNF.

Monsters as a metaphor for queer people and POC, except most of the monsters actually, objectively suck, so it's not all that great a metaphor.

I can't be the only person who finds virtually all battle/fight scenes tedious. However, I'm pretty pleased that I've managed to get 85%+ into this book before one bored me.

1) Why are they not just getting together? I mean, they obviously want to, and there are no obstacles, so...why?
2) They are running around in fields and hillsides and woodlands in North Carolina. I just keep thinking of the chigger bites they would definitely have.
