Taking a break from this one to read something a bit lighter after crying on the bus.

This is providing a lot of context for the Soviet/post Soviet books I've been reading.

Also, fuck men. The opening chapters on early 20th century Russia/USSR are not kind to Lenin and for good reason. Rich and well off men have always known little to nothing about the lived realities of people they like to "speak for".

This book has... a lot of pee in it. Like, an overwhelming amount of urine.

I'm on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what the hell happened! This is very compelling storytelling.

Interrupting my Eastern Europe streak to race against the clock on my Libby hold. Page 1 and I'm already intrigued. If you like true crime documentaries (which I don't lol), I think you will enjoy this.

I thought I would enjoy reading this right after Spaceman of Bohemia but I think they're too similar but also too different that it's kind of off-putting.

Completely absurd. The chapter about the dog statue is "laugh out loud" funny.

I've only just started this but it reminds me of the film Tenet, and it's definitely too spooky and unsettling for me to be reading before bed.
