I knew I was a few months behind in adding books. I did not realize I was eight months behind. Yikes....

Somehow I managed to get 20 books behind in my reviews.... I'm going to try to catch up in batches over the next few days, before I'm even further behind.

I'm honestly not even sure that I'm going to finish this one. It's incredibly superficial and repetitive, to say nothing of formulaic. I think I'll end up skimming the last half of the book, to see if I can glean anything of value, but, right now, I'm not even inspired to do that. So I'll put this one on the backburner for now....

I'm seriously weighing the pros and cons of abandoning this book. It's not at all what I expected. Instead of being dark in an intriguing way, it's dark in a really mean-spirited way.

Yes, I *am* trying to catch up on six months' worth of book reviews.... Why do you ask?

(It seemed like a good idea at the time to keep reading and setting books aside to review "later." But now....)

I got behind in posting reviews again. I really must force myself to write the review right away, as opposed to diving into the next book in the stack. So you're going to get bombarded with reviews over the next few days. It's catch-up week for me....

A character-rich novel with an intriguing narrative style. The author doesn't use quotation marks to indicate direct speech. It's surprisingly effective. Really enjoying this one.

I am just four stories in, yet I am already being blown away by the emotional intensity of these stories. Incredible stuff. This is why we read -- and write.

Such an intriguing book. The characters are fabulous and the plot is wonderfully odd and surreal.

I'm getting impatient with the book I'm reading right now because I want to start reading Lorrie Moore's Bark. I love Lorrie Moore.....

This book is amazing. Every Canadian who dreams of a more progressive Canada needs to read it. It not only explains how we got where we are today tax-wise(and why that's a problem): it offers concrete, workable solutions for shifting the conversation on taxation and getting our country back on track.

A good book, but it's the kind of book you have to read slowly in order to be able to digest properly.

This is a really good book. One of the essays I just finished reading just pointed out that "women, younger Canadians, university graduates, and non-Conservative supporters" are highly supportive of tax policies that favour social investment. This gives me hope for the future. :-)

Reading two amazing books at the same time -- a novel (Beginning of Was by Ania Szado) and a book on public policy (Tax is Not a Four-Letter Word).

And now to start adding mini-reviews of all the books I read this year. It's going to take a while. (I should have reviewed them as I read them, but I was so busy writing a book that I didn't have very much spare time for most of the year.) :-)

I need to catch up on my friend requests and my book reviews. But, tonight, I'm going to read....
