Fascinating story of an awe-inspiring person. Her strength and perseverance shine through throughout and I enjoyed the first half about her early years immensely. Once she moved on to her university years, however,I found the pace much slower and harder to focus on so will not be finishing the book. Again, this is no reflection on her achievements, but the arrangement of the book.

Great storyline, kept me surprised just like The lost man.

Ok so this is an insight into the culture of black British women (or the author's experience of it) and from that angle it's curious. It gives an interesting glimpse. But the wiring is so vain I have to stop and take a break. It feels like "look at me, with my synonyms and many adjectives", it gets tedious. And I am bored by the storyline. I'm not looking forward to what's going to happen to the characters...

Ужас е тази книга на толкова много нива, но аз ще я дочета, дано разбира как се класира такова нещо за роман на годината.

Finally! I must admit I was interested by half way, the plot is not bad but I still wouldn't recommend it, unless you really want to kill lots of time!

I'm debating whether I can finish this book. Too much sexism, tedious details and the use of "fornicating" in every sentence is grinding on me
I realise it is probably historically correct but I don't know if it's worth reading something that makes.me so frustrated.
Otherwise, the plot is relatively catchy so I may give it another 100-200 pages...

I can't put it into words but this is a huge book. It really resonated with me, sadly it's calling il out many truths.

Jo Pavey is an inspiring athlete but really not an inspiring writer. I thought I'd gobble the book up as I can identify with both motherhood and being a keen runner but oh my... it's quite.... bland...I am going to finish it out of perseverance, I'm a runner after all!

I did not finish, I felt like I don't need to as I agree with his approach and the book could have been one fifth of the size.

A really slow read!!! I'm struggling to keep up with the characters...
