July Book Club selection for the library, and it's pretty damn good so far!

2026-27 Middle School Battle of the Books selection (probably already mentioned that at some point)

Good, but I'll be honest, it's a hard read for me. My childhood was nothing like Kita's, and the idea that a mother would treat her daughter the way our MC's mom does just infuriates me.

Just started this at lunch, as I'm moving on to the middle school Battle of the Books list. It's good!

Did NOT expect all the feels from this one. Almost stopped after one of them...wasn't sure I could keep reading. But it's a BOB and the last one on my list, so I soldiered on.

Heard the author on NPR, then heard a snippet of the repeat they aired on the holiday. Decided I wanted to read the book and voila! Library as it, so now it's my nighttime read.

Finally started this at lunch today. LOL

I'm not loving the fact that this book is following 3 main characters and all are told in 1st person POV. Maybe if they sounded/read very differently it would be OK? But they kinda all sound/read alike...which has me wondering if this is all happening in one person's head, someone with multiple personalities. Sort of like Fight Club but from a woman's perspective.

First McFadden book that sounded like something I really wanted to read.

This is really good, especially for a non-fiction work. I know the song and some of the history, but this has much more about the building & history of the ship, the industry, other shipwrecks, and more.

Can I just tell you how much I love Res?!
