Talk about misery guts. Small dying town five hours outside of Sydney, people leaving as a huge coal mine is taking over, buying all the land while polluting everything. Added to this Ro is back visiting her ex as it's the fifth anniversary of their son going missing without a trace on his 21st birthday. Beautifully written as always, the characters and landscape described well. Not sure I can finish. Library ebook.

Not sure about this one even with the glowing reviews by GR friends. Even though Nina is going to my alma mater UVM and lives in my older brother's hometown for most of his life in Waitsfield Vermont, it just seems to fraught and will make me very angry. I might try it a little bit more, but do not feel up to it right now.

This is one of the most intense, well written books about some truly horrible things I have ever read. Mesmorising, yet so very difficult to read. Not quite half way and Maggie has finally achieved some happiness, which I know of course won't last. More heartache coming for sure.

After a conversation with my GR friend Jodi, with so many people now listening to books rather than 'reading them', does anyone listen to music while reading? I usually do as reading and listening to music are two of my favourite things to do (and I can also drink a beer and eat while doing the above sometimes). Does anyone else listen to music while reading?

I rarely read memoirs nowadays, but the second chapter of this extraordinary book just blew me away. I have not previously followed Clare's music, but certainly will now, maybe even watch a few episodes of Offspring.

Too painful for me to finish. Well written, just too close to the bone for me.

This book is a hard one for me, but I'm very glad Debra Oswald is addressing this absolutely important issue. In Australia an average of one woman a week is killed by their male partner. I spent some years on the board for a Domestic Violence service in Sydney and was a White Ribbon Ambassador for many years. I know most of the issues in this epidemic of men's violence against women. Well done Ms Oswald, just not now

Don't know if I can do this one, most devestating first chapter ever. DV at it's worst.
