Interesting start. The portrayal of the US visa process is quite vivid but a bit different from my own experience. The touts are still there though. I love his description of New York. I’m definitely enjoying the book so far.

The novel is beyond my expectation. I often wonder why I am caught by Dickens' works. I guess it is his detailed and dramatic descriptions that gets me.
As usual, Dickens may exaggerate some characters a little bit but i guess those were part of the concerns of hia era. I am loving this novel.
