Rochelle is finished with A Girl Named Zippy: Growing Up Small in Mooreland, Indiana
A beautiful telling of a childhood...not candy coated, but dingy, heartbreaking and full of joy, wondering and unrestrained curiosity.....just as real childhood is.
A peak into the childhoods of all of us who we're children in the small struggling towns of the 1970's....

Rochelle is finished with Witches, Midwives and Nurses: A History of Women Healers
A really good read on how "witches", particularly in Europe, were labeled that not because they were pagan (although some were), but rather they were women who dared to find herbal and dietary cures for diseases, challenging the "medical profession" such as it was then. Most of the women were actually devout Christians.

Many times too simplistic in theory, but well written and gives food for thought.

Rochelle is finished with Straight into Darkness
A really good mystery/thriller...and a good insight into the pre WWII days in Germany...from the viewpoint of someone who did not like Hitler, his politics, etc and saw him as a threat, even when those around him did not.

Rochelle is finished with The Chilbury Ladies' Choir
A really touching view of WWII in England....based on the fact that people were encouraged to keep diaries and journals during WWII by an organization named Mass Observation...the story is told via the journal entries of several characters in small town. Very enjoyable read!

Rochelle is reading A Piece of the World
An excellent book that takes you into the mind and heart of Christine....and you will never look at Andrew Wyeth's picture "Christine's World" the same again.

Rochelle is reading The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane
This book gives some beautiful insight into Ahka culture as well as some of the painful ones as it tells the intertwining story of a mother, a daughter she lost, and the lives they lived as a result.

Rochelle is reading The Master of Disguise: My Secret Life in the CIA
While the situations he describes are in and of themselves and while it is very informative on some of the workings of the CIA....it is a very dry book.
