Hell of an opening.

Pages 33-35 were so moving, and then so dark, that even though I was engrossed in the book I feel the need to put it down and think about what I just read for the rest of today.

Rebellion is my favorite chapter thus far.

Finally starting this big boy. I loved the intro chapters but didn't want to leave it there, so I read book 2 as well and I'm glad I did. Book 1 is an incredible introduction to the characters and their situations, but I'm glad to have read book 2 to see how they all interact together. It's a hard book to put down.

End of Part 1 and I'm loving it. I love prose from this era.

That dream sequence was phenomenal.

Great opening chapter. It's fun, has lots of personality, and yet still has those satisfyingly dense sentences.

"Guilty Pleasures" is by far my favorite essay so far. I love hearing Waters' opinions on movies, especially Duras, and I got some recommendations out of it too.
