Agony.

Odd book. At 15% and not sure what it’s trying to be. Tempted to drop it.

A jolly read. Not as intriguing as TTM but interesting enough.

Excellent so far. And so funny! Don't know why it's taken me so long to get to this book. No movie version can compare (not saying much, I know).

What a delight this is to read! I think i am going to reread it from the beginning as soon as I finish this round.

I'm almost halfway. Don't know if i'll manage to finish this very tedious work. What purpose did it meant to serve, I ask myself constantly!

Half way and I must say a beautiful, deeply insightful work. Reading it slowly because it is remarkably textured and digs deep into the psychology of the coming of age of a sensitive young man.

Just a continuous blurb on barricade fighting in the Warsaw ghetto. No character development. No real story.

Putting this down. I’m not enjoying this. It’s a bunch disconnected short stories - no plot. Seems pointless. Very disappointing.

Very enjoyable so far. I can’t decide whether I should like the protagonist. He seems kind of weak and vulnerable, almost pathetic, and yet he is endearing in some way. Not sure if it’s because he’s young and naive or something else. I should know by the end. But some great aphorisms for highlighting and pondering on.

Well, I’m glad I kept going. Quite a story has developed. Can’t put the book down now.

This is a really pointless novel. But I will forge to the end. It needs to earn that one star.

This is another excellent work from Catherine Ryan Hyde. None of the genre classifications on Goodreads do it justice. They’re insulting in fact. This is literature. Being “Chick Lit”, “LGBT”, “Animals” or even “Fiction” is irrelevant.

Heartwarming, charming and heart-tugging coming of age story. Oh, to be innocent again and find wonder in everything!

I can’t wait to finish this totally pointless blathering novel.

Fascinating insight into hobo living in the depression era. Good writing too.

The prose is lyrical and beautiful throughout. Reminds me a lot of Thomas Hardy's writing. It's captivating.

Not enjoying this one so much. Characters are dull and the so is the narrative, which is peppered with badly constructed sentences. Boggles the mind.

Love the slow pace of this book. It’s building up to something, I feel it.

I read this book years ago and I don't remember disliking the protagonist as much as I am disliking him this time round. What a piece of work! A coward, betrayer and a spoilt brat! I can't recall how things turn out but some big redemption better happen for this book to have any point at all for me.

Gripping Irish tale of old: injustice and revenge. Sailing the seas in the 18th century described with intimate and fascinating detail, populated with strong (and weak) characters.

Don’t think I’m going to finish this. Life is too short!

Julia Brannan, you need to learn when to use she versus her and whom/who and be consistent with the Scottish accent: you’re/ye’r; ye’d/ you’d.

Julia Brannan is hysterically funny and writes excellent historical fiction. This series about the Jacobite movement is rivetting with sexy and complex characters.

Remarkable, remarkable, remarkable! Yael Politis writes sentences and stories that pull you in relentlessly and you can’t help adoring her characters. Such a discovery!
