This book was so interesting that I’m immediately reading it again.

I don’t read Christian fiction. But this made me cry and I can’t seem to be mad at it.

Just Wilson’s introduction gave me chills (Goodreads has no respect for distinguishing translations)

I’ve never noticed how strong the theme of neglect is, even this early in the series.

I’m about to immediately read this again.

This book was super interesting! But the author often brushes past events/trends that he considers common knowledge in favor of diving into more obscure examples, which made me feel a bit like I was reading a commentary on a history book I didn’t own.

Difficult to read, but also rich with layers of insight into what it means to be human.

Listen, I love all this lore, but I’d trade half the mythology for a single reason to like this version of Ariadne.

I can’t explain why, but this book reminds me of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, if none of the bizarre events were actually real.

If you told me I was somehow reading an unedited version of this book, I’d believe you.

If you like cultural history, social criticism, and a little bit of science, you will LOVE this book. I will be re-reading it.

I feel a little like I’m going insane, honestly.

Again, I could like this book if you just gave me a sharpie and let me redact a few chapters … okay, like 1/4 of the book, but still. I’m uncomfortable.

It blows my mind that these were originally marketed as YA. I would have burned these books with a cross in my hand.

Is this… is this a Psyche retelling, or am I too far gone?

I understand why this book won so many awards, but it’s not really my cup of coffee. I might read it again in a few years to see if I’ve developed more patience.

I now understand what’s happening, and it’s a modern literary western.

So far, this reads a lot like poetry. By which I mean that I’m getting frustrated, because I don’t understand what’s happening and I can’t tell which of us is the problem.

I’m so mad, but mostly because she made me okay with this trope (for now).

I can’t rate this book any more than I could rate a heartfelt letter. But for its life-joy and sincerity and little silences, I know I’ll be reading it again.

I forgot how much better this gets later on. The art also feels different? But I still love it as a whole.

I happened to be reading this side by side with the Odyssey and I highly recommend the experience.
