So good. I am so drawn in by the beautiful writing even when the story is ordinary.

Can you come of age in your 70s?

"I am not sure.any child really wants to know their parent.Or vice versa, maybe that knowledge and that truth are too much.I'm not sure these are new thoughts for me and I need to find a way through them.I am not accustomed to having new thoughts and at 79.I'm not at all thrilled to have to learn"

I am finding the book to be quite engaging indeed.

You don't get to disappear anymore. You can't go running off into the woods like a wounded deer. You lean on me when it hurts. That's what we're here for- to lean on each other.

"Robert has a stillness to him even when he's moving about the kitchen, chopping cucumbers for the salad or pouring wine in my glass, there's nothing frantic about it. Everything is purposeful like what he's doing at that moment is the only thing he could possibly want to be doing."
