I’m pretty sure I hate this book.

The writing is…. Ugh.
A paragraph will start with one thought and then end on a complete other thought with no rhyme or reason as to how the author got there.
There are too many asides, too many tangents that are so jarring I’m having to go back and reread several times in order to understand what the heck is happening.

I’m sorry. Bringing up the race of a teenage boy in relation to his confidence… is actually kinda racist. I mean, if the kid was any race but white he wouldn’t be as confident? Why is that? Because only white people are confident?
So confused as to why only a white boy would be confident.

I think this book is trying to make an observation about the political affairs of America in real life…. But all I’m understanding is that August think taxes are bs too. Ok? Ok. 👍

Already decidedly uncomfortable with this book. At first I couldn’t figure out why. Now I have. The body jumping…. I hope it’s somehow related to the plot and not just there for shits and giggles cause violating someone’s bodily autonomy is just…. I don’t even need to say it.
