On page 92 Francis is surprised. Francis and Nate were going sledding with a Teddy. They were going to meet Teddy at the park. Francis got really surprised when Teddy got a snow tube. "Francis's eyes widen as he looked behind me." This proves Francis was surprised because his eyes widened.

The theme for Chains is to stay strong. Multiple times in the book it looked like Isabel was going to cry but she stood strong and acted tough. For example when Ruth got sold she stayed strong and did the work she was supposed to do. She didn't run away to find Ruth. "My cheek burned, but I fought back the hot tears," (33). This proves that Isabel has to stay strong because she fought off her tears.

On page 133, Isabel is upset. In this scene Isabel woke up and couldn't find Ruth. Becky tells her that Madam sold her. Ruth now is on the islands. In this part Isabel said " I stopped hearing right. No more birds or buzzing or grandfather clock marking time. This proves that Isabel is shocked. I can infer she's upset because she loves Ruth so much and wants to protect her.

On page 95 Isabel is scared. In this part Ruth has another fit and Madame thought she was cursed. Madam wanted to sell Ruth. In this part Isabel cried "You can't sell her!" This proves that Isabel is scared because she didn't want her to go somewhere else. Isabel wants to protect Ruth.

In this part Madame said " I want her sold Elihu, sold today." "You can't sell her!" Isabel bursted out. This proves that Isabel is scared because Isabel loves Ruth and wants to protect her.

Victor Cruz Out of the Blue was a good book. It showed the inspiring life of Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz. Victor had to overcome challenges to succeed. For example in order for him to play college football he had to do good on the SATS. Victor failed the SATS many times but he never gave up.

That means the Giants are going to the Super Bowl. In this part Victor said "We're going to the Super Bowl!" This prove that Victor is happy and excited because he is going to play in the Super Bowl.

On page 196, Victor is noticed as a hero. . The Giants beat the Cowboys 31-14 and we're now NFC east champion and were playoff-bound. In the locker room Victor's teammate Chris Canty said "We're not division champions if you don't step up this season Cruz," this proves that Victor helped the Giants a lot this season because a lot of the players recognized his talent.

The next day a man got killed in the gunfight. In this part Victor said "Then, at two thirty a.m., I heard gunshots. Wap-wap-wap!" This proves that Victor was facing external conflict because when he was at a club there were gunshots.

In this scene this proves that Victor is working hard because he is watching his diet

On page 123 Victor is hard working because he wants to impress NFL scouts are at the NFL's annual Draft Scouting Combine. Victor did the 40 yard dash in 4.42 seconds and did sixteen reps of 225 pounds. In this part Victor says "With thirty scouts watching I ran the all-important forty-yard dash in 4.42 seconds." This proves that Victor is hard working because scouts are there and he wants to impress them.
